Binghamton, NY – Binghamton Mayor Jared M. Kraham proclaimed June 8, 2026, through June 12, 2026, “Security Mutual Life Week,” in the City of Binghamton. This proclamation recognizes the multitude of ways Security Mutual Life has contributed, and continues to contribute, to the local community including charitable contributions to local organizations, volunteerism on behalf of its employees and the Company’s long-standing presence in the heart of downtown Binghamton since its inception in 1886.

“Security Mutual Life Week is the perfect time to celebrate one of our area’s great institutions and recognize the many hardworking people who help the company thrive. Security Mutual Life has served as an anchor of downtown Binghamton for over a century, with a commitment to bettering our community and giving back to those who call it home. My thanks to the entire Security Mutual Life team for all they do to help make Binghamton a better place,” stated Binghamton Mayor, Jared M. Kraham.

In recognition of Security Mutual Life Week, downtown Binghamton will be decorated with Security Mutual Life flags and hanging flower baskets, co-sponsored by Security Mutual Life, in an effort to help beautify the city. In addition, Binghamton City Hall will be flying the Security Mutual Life flag.

“Security Mutual Life Week allows us the opportunity to reflect and highlight our involvement in the community and reiterate that this single week represents a full year of initiatives and service by Security Mutual Life. We are also proudly celebrating Security Mutual Life’s 140th anniversary this November. Since 1886, we’ve been dedicated to helping support this community and its residents, as well as our many policyholders around the country. Our Company tagline, “The Company That Cares®,” isn’t just a motto to us, it’s engrained in our culture and our subsequent actions. Looking back on the previous 140 years, we celebrate all that we’ve been able to accomplish, and we look forward to the next 140 years ahead of us,” said Kirk R. Gravely, President and Chief Executive Officer of Security Mutual Life.

Security Mutual Life also highlighted the impact Sock Out Cancer® has had on the Greater Binghamton area. “Of course, we can’t talk about giving back to the community without talking about Sock Out Cancer®. Since its inception in 2017, Sock Out Cancer has distributed over $2 million to participating hospital foundations and other charitable organizations, many of which are located right here in the Southern Tier. We recently celebrated Sock Out Cancer Day in New York State on Sunday, June 7. We’re proud of what this organization has been able to accomplish, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds,” stated Bruce W. Boyea, Security Mutual Life Chair of the Board and Trustee of Sock Out Cancer.

Founded in 2017, the mission of Sock Out Cancer is to assist financially distressed cancer patients and their families pay for non-medical necessities such as food, transportation, and housing, so that patients can focus their energy on fighting cancer.

Security Mutual Life looks forward to continuing to support the Greater Binghamton area in addition to the communities in which it serves.
